Clean Sweep

My friends, some of whom have yet to take the scary plunge, always ask how I like living with a boy. I always tell them the truth: I really enjoy it. Except for the mess.

In general, I am very lucky to have a tidy boyfriend/roommate. But, there are times when I long for the cleanliness that was living with girls (and a Sorority house with a maid).

Then I quickly snap myself back to reality, remember that I am also not always the most tidy, and get creative. I like to think I use my lawyering skills when I talk Schock into a “20 minute clean-sweep”.

We take 20 minutes and do a basic clean-up of the apartment. Doing dishes, folding clothes, dusting, sweeping- whatever it takes to get things looking great, we do as quickly as possible. It doesn’t take long and it makes me feel about 1,000,000 times better about my life to have a clean apartment.

Much to Schock’s enjoyment, he is at work right now so I was left to my own devices this afternoon. I think I did a pretty good clean-sweep!

Ah, nothing like a clean apartment.

I fueled myself with a good breakfast (before class) and a great lunch before cleaning:

Oatmeal made a comeback!

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • splash of pure vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • dash of cinnamon
  • note: these are very exact measurements 😉

Topped with: pom seeds, brown sugar, and a splash of milk

Lunch was a sandwich with:

  • 2 eggs
  • cheddar cheese
  • a little Miracle Whip (can’t have an egg sandwich without it!)
  • some Frank’s Red Hot drizzled on top
  • orange slices

Now that I have a clean apartment and a full stomach, it’s time to get some work done take a nap. It is Friday, after all! 😀
