Sacrifices

Hello friends! Happy Thursday! The weekend- and Spring Break- are soooo close I can hardly stand it!!! πŸ˜€

I have a fun post coming up for tomorrow including seeking travel advice, but today I thought I’d share some other news πŸ™‚

As you may know, the season of Lent began yesterday with Ash Wednesday. For the next 40 days, Christians all over the world will enter into a period of fasting and reflection to prepare for the celebration of Easter Sunday.

So, what does this have to do with Legal Eats??

Duh, silly- I’m giving up food/drink! To be specific, I’m giving up two of my most beloved things in the whole world

I’m giving up Diet Coke (and all other types of soda) and desserts. Since I literally might die (or murder Schock) if I don’t have any dessert for 40 days, I will be allowing myself one dessert per week. No soda at all though!

— Note: I am going to France, land of delicious food, for several days so I might cheat just a little next week. It would be a travesty not to sample the confections!

I also like the idea of doing something positive instead of just “fasting” on things, so I am going to try to eliminate gossiping for Lent. Gossiping is mean and hurtful and I’m ashamed I do it! Period.

I realize not everyone is Catholic, or any other type of Christian who does Lent, but I still really like the exercise of fasting & giving something up that you really love. It teaches discipline and self-control, and if you do believe in God (or are just spiritual in general) it helps give you a sense of stronger connection to this little world πŸ™‚

So, anyone giving up anything good?? I think I’m setting myself up for quite the personal challenge this year!! πŸ˜‰

Have a good afternoon!

Abby

  1. Ah Abby I’m giving up burgers, burritos and beer. It’s going to be an awful 4o days! Luckily, St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t count on the Lenten calendar!
